Counter-terror police make seventh arrest over suspected RAF Fairford plot on 6 October

A 22-year-old British man was arrested in Westminster on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts. The six earlier suspects have been released on bail.

A 22-year-old British man has been arrested in central London by counter-terrorism police investigating the suspected plot against the US bomber base at RAF Fairford.

Counter Terrorism Policing said the man was detained in Westminster on Tuesday on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts. He is the seventh person arrested in the inquiry, and the six earlier suspects have all been released on bail.

Officers launched the investigation on 27 September after three vans were stopped near the Gloucestershire airbase. Material found in drums inside the vehicles was later judged not to be a viable explosive, The Sun reported.

The sixth suspect, a 25-year-old British-Iranian dual national held in Westminster on Thursday, was bailed on Saturday.

On Sunday the US Air Force withdrew all 12 of its B-1 bombers from Fairford while the investigation continues.
