Complaints

If something we have published is wrong, unfair, or in breach of our ethics policy, we want to hear about it. Complaints are taken seriously and looked into by the newsroom.

Send a complaint through our contact form. Tell us which article your complaint concerns, what is wrong with it, and what you would like us to do. You do not need to be the person the article is about to point out an error.

Where a complaint identifies an error, we correct it promptly, visibly and without euphemism. Corrections appear at the foot of the article they correct, labeled Corrections, with the date of the correction and what changed. We do not silently rewrite published copy.

Clarifications are labeled as clarifications. Where a complaint cannot be upheld, we explain our reasoning to the complainant.

Copyright complaints follow a separate route: see our DMCA policy for the notice and counter-notice procedure.
